Laboratory Services at National Heart Institute, New Delhi, have been established with a view to providing wide range of investigations, necessary for cardiac care. It consists of disciplines of Biochemistry, Clinical Pathology, Haematology, Immunology, Microbiology & Serology, Endocrinology, Nutrition and Metabolism, Histopathology, Cytopathology and Immuno-Histochemistry (Outsourced) All these disciplines provide qualitative and quantitative analysis of biological fluids such as blood, serum or plasma, tissue, urine, stool, CSF etc.
The laboratory has recently cleared the Final Audit for ISO – 15189 and NABL accreditation - the certification for utmost quality by National Accreditation Board. The Quality certificate has been granted.

Biochemistry Lab
Backed by highly qualified and motivated Technical staff, it has the latest state of art technologies, to perform routine biochemical tests for patients care.To name a few sophisticated equipments, we have Hitachi-902, a fully automatic random access autoanalyzer capable of doing Spectro- photometric and Immunoturbidimetric analysis of various analytes. Radiometer ABL-555, ABL-510. Blood Gas analyzers, AVL9180-proLYTE,an Electrolyte analyzer. Using these systems, Biochemical analyses are being done within a very short period of time, requiring minimum sample volume.
Haematology Lab
The laboratory is equipped with completely automated instruments, cell counters, Sysmex-pocH-100i, for carrying out routine haematological investigations such as haemoglobin, total and differential leucocyte counts, platelets count, red cell indices etc. accurately.
Microbiology Lab
The aim of NHI microbiology department is to provide accurate and reproducible results on clinical material within the shortest possible time.

Conventional culture for aerobic bacteria, from clinical specimen is carried out on most appropriate media in controlled environment. (Anaerobic and fungal cultures are outsourced)
