Health Check Up

Health problems can be managed more effectively if detected early. The Health Check-up programs of National Heart Institute aim to promote good health and to facilitate early detection of disease and identification of unhealthy lifestyle practices. Positive health is achieved through lifestyle modifications that includes a good diet, regular exercise and periodic visits to your family physician.

National Heart Institute Health Program offers evaluation and counselling with an emphasis on preventing health problems. Individuals receive a comprehensive screening examination, followed by a complete report and guidance for managing their health while maintaining a crowded calendar and highly productive lifestyle. The old adage "Prevention is better than cure" is more relevant today than ever before. The phenomenal increase in cost of patient care, medical or surgical, the man days lost due to sickness absenteeism, death and disability in the prime of life have made even the most affluent countries worried and have launched preventive programmes on national level.

The emphasis today is to have frequent simple checkups even when the person is in apparent good health. It is all the more important in high risk groups e.g. those persons with a family history of heart disease, smokers, those with diabetes and high blood pressure, overweight, sedentary life style etc.

Regular health checks are recommended for people above 35 years of age. An annual comprehensive health check helps in early diagnosis and better management of the disease.
