Day-care centre cater to the patients undergoing surgeries and procedures that do not require overnight stay in the hospital. The unit is manned by a team of skilled and experienced nurses. The day-care unit is open from 8:00am to 8:00pm. Admission into day-care is done only on doctor’s advice.
The Day care centre at National Heart Institute is located on the A wing first and second floors with 4 beds on each floor. The day care center on first floor caters to all medical and surgical procedures whereas the A wing 2nd Floor (ICCU-III) daycare centre is dedicated to medical treatment of cancer patients. A Laminar airflow hood is available in the centre for preparing the drugs and to ensure sterility of the products used in treatment of cancer patients.
The day-care on the ground floor is just adjacent to the peri-operative suites manned by qualified nurses to cater to every medical need of a patient. All minor, intermediate, major procedures such as Cardiac Catheterization, Angiography can be performed here. The day-care on the A wing 2nd Floor (ICCU-III) is equipped to ensure safe and friendly environment for patients receiving chemotherapy and supportive treatments. The advance in surgical techniques, anesthesiology and pain relief are important contributing factors in increasing the popularity of day care procedures.
